Marathon Man

Thrills (#50); Stars - Lawrence Olivier (#14), Dustin Hoffman (Current); Quotes - "Is it safe?" (#70); Villains - Dr. Szell (#34)

Combining three of the scariest things ever - Nazis, dentists, and William Devane (ok, so he's more creepy than scary. I don't know why, because it's not Gary Sinise scary. He's just always seemed creepy to me) - Marathon Man keeps its audience on the edge of their seats. Although predictable at times, it has moments where it brilliantly builds the suspense.

If you like this kind of movie, it's good. I don't really, so I'll stick with William Goldman's other screenplays - The Princess Bride and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

and yet you always seem to think that if people tell you "it's SO good!", then it will be SO good.
if people tell you "it's SO good!", you should expect it to be so-so.
