Stars - Dustin Hoffman (Current - not rated); Top Ten - Courtroom Drama (#3)
This isn't so much a courtroom drama as it is a story about a father and son. Mom (played by newcomer Meryl Streep) walks out on her family, leaving Dad to figure out how to be a single father. It's not easy, and he makes mistakes along the way, but he figures it out.
Then Mom comes back demanding custody, and courts in the 1970s overwhelmingly tended to side with the mother.
A good movie, with the exception of one unnecessary scene (why is there always one unnecessary scene?).
