I've said it before and I'll say it again - I like Mel Brooks (actually, I loved him on Mad About You). He's politically incorrect and irreverent, but he knows just how far to take a joke. He's not out to offend - he's just plain funny.
Brooks and Wilder make a great team, and they do it again in The Producers (which is why the 1968 version is better than the Nathan Lane/Matthew Broderick one).
